The Cable TV Traders & Manufacturers Association’s show has been postponed by a day to now start from 12th January, 2012 and continue up to 14th Jan 2012. With the recently passed ordinance that amends the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, approving the timeline the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) and suggesting for mandatory digitization, it has

become imperative for all cable operators to come and be a part of the show to understand the digital world better. They should use this as an opportunity to interact with industry experts to know how to make the first move (by installing Set Top Boxes) towards going digital. If they don’t act now, DTH will kill their market and livelihood. The Broadband India team requests all operators to meet at the show and move together in the right direction.

In December issue of your Magazine, the Article on Child Participation in TV Shows is very good for the Society. Programme makers are using child to perform scenes or mouth dialogues that are inappropriate for his/her age or those that my cause distress. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) rightly send guidelines to the I & B Ministry. Govt. must look into the matter.

Last month, I read the article which talked about Aamir Khan and Star India joining hands for TV Soap. It is a pleasant surprise for the viewers to see Aamir on small screen. The small screen (TV) is no longer small; it is bigger than the big screen (Cinema). Everyone knows that Amitabh Bachchan also gained his popularity by hosting KBC on the small screen. It has now become a normal routine for bollywood superstars to make a presence on TV to make big moolah and enhance their fame.

Now its the time to get into fast action in the digitization regime. With the govt. ordinance in place, there is no stopping all players in the market to step up their aggressive marketing plans and grab as many consumers as possible. Without any ordinance DTH players have already Cornered 25% of the market share. If you don’t act quickly enough now, the chances of survival would reduce with each passing day!

I read article on Misleading Ads issue in your Oct. issue. This is for the first time Govt. has taken up the issue of such advertisements ranging from a man jumping off a cliff unhurt after drinking a particular drink to a soap or cream making one look younger & fairer. A seek child tells you not to seek medical help but to buy a nazar suraksha amulet. Govt. must look in this matter strongly.

The Election Commission has issued guidelines for candidates advertisement on TV Channels, Radio Channels & News Papers. This is a good move by election commission. Many political parties in India have their own TV Channel & News Paper. They are showing reports & advertisements for their candidate only. Governement must look in this matter
