One of the major telecom gear manufacturer of Europe, Alcatel Lucent in a recent announcement has identified India for establishment of its global services headquarters. The announcement was made by Ben Verwaayen (Chief Executive). The company holds plan of investing an amount of $500 million for the next 3 years. After Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel is the second player in the sector to have chosen India as its services HQ. The company possesses its operations significantly in US, China and France and identify these three places as its 3 pillars. Now it is all set to establish India as its fourth pillar. The shifting work of services division will be done in next few weeks or months.
It has been said that the company has took this step realising India’s potential as the fastest growing telecom market in the world. Alcatel is already facing hard times at sales front and is witnessing a low situation in terms of quarterly results. The company now plans to increase the strength of its employees in India ahead of its existing number of 10000 employees in the country..
