Dubai-based Taj Television Ltd plans to set up a joint venture with Comcast Corporation for a golf channel in India. The company has applied to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and is awaiting clearance. It has also made an application for Ten Sports 2, the details of which are still unclear at this stage.Comcast runs the popular Golf Channel, a 24-hour golf network that was launched on 17 January 1995 in the US.
Golf channel is available in more than 120 million homes worldwide through cable, satellite and wireless companies. In 2007, it embarked on its 15-year agreement as the exclusive cable television home for the PGA Tour.
