After serving the Windows and Windows line division as a squadron for over
a year, Steven Sinofsky was promoted as president of the Windows division.
With this, Sinofsky will take care of the Windows business, including both the engineering and marketing functions for Windows, Windows Live and Internet Explorer. Earlier in 2008, the software giant divided its platforms and services division in two, with the newly formed Windows/Windows Live unit being headed by Sinofsky, Jon DeVaan and Bill Veghte.
