Intel Capital, the corporate venture capital arm of chip maker Intel, has invested a total of $ 23 million in three Indian companies – One97 Communications, IndiaMART.com and Global Talent Track. Though individual investment amounts were not disclosed, sources say that $ 13 million will be invested in One97 Communications, a Delhi-based mobile value added services (VAS) company.
The investments have come from Intel Capital’s $ 250 million India Technology Fund, founded in 2005. In July last year, Intel announced an investment of $ 17 million into three Indian companies – travel portal Yatra.com, events-oriented social networking portal BuzzInTown.com, and out-of-home advertising firm Emnet Samsara Media.
Sudheer Kuppan, managing director, Intel Capital – India, Japan, Australasia and South East Asia, says, “Our latest investments in One97 Communications, India Mart.com and GTT corroborate our continued interest to develop the country further through support of novel and exciting business models.”
